Create:Fixate Offers Limited Edition Prints

Create:Fixate will be launching its first limited edition print “Richard Neutra” by his great grandson Max Neutra. The delicate, hand-pulled print, sized 18 x 24, features floor plans from the Neutra VDL house. As with everything Create:Fixate, half the proceeds will be supporting a local artists mission: a campaign to preserve Richard Neutra’s estate (the other half will be supporting Create:Fixate’s non-profit programs). Neutra’s story is unique. As Neutra states, “For years I have been watching the deterioration of my great grandfather’s house. I have vivid memories of visiting when I was a child and thinking it was one of the most interesting places I’ve been.” Unfortunately, the house has deteriorated with time and is in significant need of repairs and maintenance.

Neutra wanted to raise awareness for his cause while raising funds that will aid in the renovation process. Last year, Neutra create a 4 x 5 painting of Richard Neutra which was donated to the current steward of the estate, Cal Poly Pomona. In continued efforts to further the campaign, Neutra has created this limited edition piece for distribution in coordination with Create:Fixate.

“I am very thankful for my friends at Create:Fixate and am excited that they are releasing this print in support of the efforts to save the VDL house. I could not think of a more fitting crowd to make our appeal to than the hip, intellectual, and art loving members of Create:Fixate. People like you have the taste and ability to recognize the greatness and value of such a building. Richard may have built the VDL house for another generation, but it is this generation that has the power to to help pass it on to the next.”

In efforts to save the estate, Cal Poly Pomona College of Environmental Design, The VDL Advisory Board and the Friends of VDL launched two fundraising campaigns in the fall of 2007. The first campaign was a success, and the $30,000 needed to cover 2 years of operations was met. This campaign is a continuing of the same principles, with the goal of raising $1 million to cover needed repairs and on-going maintenance of the famed house.
